Carolyn is a member of The Young Alberta Book Society. The Young Alberta Book Society (YABS) is committed to creating literary arts opportunities for young Albertans. Literacy and art are fundamental to a healthy, productive, rich life and should be available to all children in Alberta regardless of location or socioeconomic status.

YABS is best known for Taleblazers our children's literary festival held each year in October. Now in our 25th year, the TaleBlazers festival sends authors, illustrators and storytellers to schools and public libraries throughout Alberta. Taleblazers creates opportunities for thousands of meetings between students and artists, which lead to enhanced levels of literacy and, most importantly, excitement about reading and the arts.
